THE FORM
IS NOT
THE STARTING
POINT.
A tattoo can begin before an image: with something lived, felt or thought — something that needs another form.
START
WITH
INTENTION.
I do not begin by reproducing an image you already have in mind. I first want to understand what it needs to express.
An experience, sensation, story, anger, contradiction or trace can become the material of the project.
TRANSLATE,
DON'T
ILLUSTRATE.
My role is to transform that material into a form belonging to my graphic language.
Contrast, black masses, textures, empty space, tension and movement all take part in the translation. The body is not a neutral surface.
THE BODY
IS PART
OF THE FORM.
A project is not simply drawn for a body area. It is composed for a person, a morphology and a way of moving.
FREEDOM
DOESN'T
EXCLUDE
DIALOGUE.
A carte blanche does not mean that you disappear from the process.
You bring what needs to be expressed. I take responsibility for how it becomes a form.
The project is shown before the tattoo. You can ask for changes, including major ones. We keep working until the proposal fits what we were looking for together.
FROM
INTENTION
TO FORM.
Whether you know exactly what you want or only what you want to express, both can be a starting point.
